What is AVID?
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. Boerne ISD is in the early stages of the AVID Schoolwide implementation process. In Boerne, we believe that all students are AVID students. Students do not have to be enrolled in an advanced course. AVID strategies are incorporated across all content areas and AVID curriculum is embedded into the scope and sequence within the electives of Student Leadership, Digital Literacy I & II, STEM I & II, Wellness, and College and Career Readiness.
AVID's mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.

Boerne Middle School South will implement the use of WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading) strategies across all content areas so students will be college and career-ready.
AVID Site Goal #2
Boerne Middle School South will create a visible AVID culture throughout the campus using AVID posters, college banners, anchor charts, teacher door college credentials, and other materials related to AVID.
